GunkelmanFlesher has received some very flattering attention in the media lately, including Metropolitan Home, Interior Design Magazine and Midwest Home. Here’s just a glimmer of our moment in the media spotlight:
History in the Remaking – Interior Design Magazine will feature GunkelmanFlesher’s redesign of a historical Minneapolis library into a beautiful, functional and eco-friendly office space.
The Brilliance of Neutrals – Andrew Flesher weighs in on the statement you can make with understated neutrals in the October issue of Metropolitan Home (3.2MB pdf).

Madeline Island Paradise – The perfect melding of rusticity and classic design are on display in Tom Gunkelman and Karen McKay’s design of this Madeline Island home in the June/July issue of Midwest Home (4.5MB pdf).

House Beautiful P.O.V. – But the piece that really caught our eye was this commentary by House Beautiful Editor-in-Chief Stephen Drucker in the August 2008 issue. He writes:
“I can’t not mention the economy anymore. It’s in the news, it’s at the gas pump, it’s in the air every day. To everyone who hesitates that decorating is a luxury at this unsettled moment, I’d like to say that I think home is more important than ever, not a last priority in your budget, but a first. Now is the time to set a beautiful table and invite friends for dinner, rather than go to a restaurant. Now is the time to get a deal on that big TV and create your own home theater, rather than go out to the movies. Now is the time to paint a room a pretty color, or buy some pillows for your sofa, or dress up your bed in new sheets. And now is definitely the time to renovate a kitchen or bath, or even add a room, as contractors become less busy and more eager to please. Home isn’t a luxury; the money you spend, you’ll enjoy every day.”
We couldn’t agree more Stephen!
